It has now been more than a month since The Rehab Inn at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle opened its doors to welcome guests, and since then it has garnered much attention in the community and the greater Dothan area.
As the first short-term stay rehabilitation of its kind in the state of Alabama, The Rehab Inn focuses on providing a unique, home-like atmosphere for guests’ relaxation and recovery. Each guest at The Rehab Inn has their own private room and bathroom, and shares common spaces with the other rehab guests, replicating the experience of living at home.
Meet Lethia Thompson. Lethia was one of the first guests to move into The Rehab Inn. She had been recovering from knee surgery in the previous rehab center at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle before moving into The Rehab Inn to complete her healing. Lethia said she was amazed by the enhancements provided by the new center. The previous rehabilitation center at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle had equally great care, but many of the features were simply outdated.
“When I moved into the new Rehab Inn, it was like moving into a different world,” Lethia explains. “The old setting felt like what you would expect a rehabilitation center to be, but from the attentive staff and services to the décor and finishings, the new center felt like a luxury hotel.”
One of Lethia’s favorite aspects about The Rehab Inn is how warm and outgoing the staff was. “They looked after me as if I were their own mother!” she said.
Another aspect she enjoyed was having her own private suite, yet still having the freedom to leave her room, and go to the living room or kitchen to visit with others and sit down for a warm, home cooked meal.
The features most enjoyed by Lethia are the hallmarks of the revolutionary Household Model of care, and is what sets The Rehab Inn apart from other rehab centers in Alabama. The emphasis on independence and the normal routine of life and home helped Lethia feel relaxed and focus on her recovery.
“My time at The Rehab Inn was a wonderful experience that I will never forget,” Lethia declares. “From the kitchen staff to the physical therapists that lovingly pushed me, I felt supported, cared for and respected. I plan on going back soon to thank everyone for making my stay there so wonderful and healing. I would recommend The Rehab Inn at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle to anyone who needs a short-term rehabilitation center, and if for some reason I ever end up needing to spend some time in one again, I would choose this center in a heartbeat.”
